Sardines

A dozen silver corpses,
Embalmed with oil, recline
Inside the sardine tin.
At rest, symmetrical,
Shapely as when they died,
Neatly decapitated,
They lie in state. They all
Appear to take group pride,
Clan satisfaction, in
The ultimate design.
